JT Multisport June 2021 Newsletter

June 2021

Welcome to the 2021/22 season! Thank you to all members who have rejoined our club for another year and welcome to all our new members! If you are yet to jump on board by joining through the new system here, your membership has now lapsed but it’s not too late!

Although June is not known for triathlon racing in Australia that didn’t stop a number of athletes competing in Queensland. At Cairns 70.3 where Bell completed her first 70.3 and John had what he termed his best race ever. On the Gold Coast and Port Douglas, Yoann and Grace raced some of Australia and New Zealand’s best athletes as they chased Olympic points. Both athletes gained valuable experience and earned themselves World Triathlon ranking points to now sit 643 and 485 in the world. One of the highlights of their racing block was having a handful of teammates supporting their training between races in Cairns where we held our first JTM winter camp. We also had some friendly faces giving up their holiday time to come and support. We love to see our members support and drive each other to be better athletes and people!

June also saw the Triathlon Australia virtual Celebration of Champions where coach JT was awarded a finalist in the Triathlon Australia Age Group Coach of the Year award. The celebration of the 20/21 season is set to continue with the TACT awards set to take place on Friday August 6th. We would love to see as many JTM athletes present as possible and will follow with more information shortly.

On the radar for the next couple of months is the JTM Duathlon training session on July 3rd at Stromlo, the CME events club relay on July 18th at Stromlo and the TA Foundation Coaching Course on August 15-16 at the AIS - more info to follow.

Thank you to everyone who made the 2020/21 season unforgettable. We are more motivated than ever to continue to push our coaches and athletes to be the best we can this season!

Athlete Spotlight

Steve Croft

You may know Steve Croft from his hoop skills or his ability to get through audio books while training but this month Steve added another notch to his business belt by acquiring My Ride Woden and Onya Bike in Belconnen.

JTM is looking forward to continuing to work closely with both stores and wish Steve & Bobby all the best with the transition. We also send our thanks to previous store owner, Micko for everything he has done to keep our bikes in top condition over the years. The end of a great innings for one of Canberra’s most experienced in the industry!

Training Tools

Did you know your training peaks account can track your metrics? Just like adding a session click the ‘+’ button in your app to add metrics such as sleep, sleep quality, injury, soreness etc. Your coach has the ability to track these metrics over time to track wellness and performance trends. These seemingly small pieces of information are a massive help to your coach to ensure you race your best come race day!
